About Questa Creative Council

Formed in the fall of 2017, the Questa Creative Council is a dynamic group of local creative thinkers, artists, and “doers” from the Questa, New Mexico area.

This nonprofit supports collaborative projects and events for Questa and its surrounding communities.

Some of our signature projects pre-date this year, such as the Questa History Trail and the Questa Art Tour. These project teams and others were already collaborating and supporting one another. Coming together in an official, 501(c)(3) status allowed for more efficient ways to secure funding.

In addition to activities and projects around visual arts, we also encompass the performing and literary arts, culinary arts, local culture, history, and education— and outreach with an eye to “placemaking” in our unique village.

Questa

Questa is located in Taos County, New Mexico, in the southwest region of the United States. The population is roughly 1,800 and the altitude is nearly 8,000 feet. This historic village surrounded by protected wilderness is a best-kept secret for drivers and hikers escaping the crowds and wishing to immerse themselves in these beautiful public lands. A wide variety of hotels, restaurants and cultural experiences await in charming, historic Taos, just a half-hour south along the Rio Grande.

And Questa is a culturally different side trip for visitors to Red River, just 15 minutes east, into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The former mining town of Red River offers a family-friendly option full of motels and vacation rentals.

Questa itself has some of the most beautiful camping sites in the U.S., and spots to park an RV within the village, along with some very good burgers and burritos!

The Rio Grande del Norte National Monument is to our west and the Carson National Forest is to our east. Once a farming, then mining town, Questa is finding its way into a new day of eco-tourism, clean energy, and artistry.
